[pacman-dev] localized log ?
Is it a good idea to localize pacman.log also ? Do other apps do this as well ? pacman.log can be handy sometimes for restore/repair purpose, if it was always in english, it would be very easy to parse, but having to take several languages in consideration make it much much harder. I've at least 2 examples from the forums of little scripts that require pacman.log in english : http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=260452#p260452 http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=260961#p260961

I agree. Logs and debug information shouldn`t be localized. In addition to this one should get rid of all output libalpm currently does. -- archlinux.de

Just put a fix on my own branch so that alpm_logaction calls are not called with localized strings. The second part is going to be a bit more intensive to fix, but I agree with it on most counts. -Dan

Seconded. Considering debug output is for... well, us, and we all speak english well enough (except me, I dun gooder englich with speaks none) it doesn't much make sense for someone to show us debug output in italian.
