Though, i don't know how to test / verify this. I don't know this error using pacman3, have XFS and never got in struggle with pacman. I can't think of a common error, since it would appear more often.
Anyone ideas for a starting point?

I don't really know where to start on this, besides looking at the code to see what triggers this error message (if it is even the same anymore), and going from there. It seems like a filesystem corruption issue to me considering a reboot solved problems, which means an fsck likely took place. -Dan
