IMO (8/8) is meaningless.
It varies from 1/8 to 8/8 during the install process as each package is checked. It's meaningless after the fact, but useful during the install.

It's an odd number because it's not specified. We set aside some space for the beginning text, so both progress bars are in line with each other, then fill with whatever length it actually needs.
