[arch-dev-public] System-wide bashrc?

This problem has been bugging me for some time: /etc/profile is only read for login-shells. That is fine, because you launch a login-shell once, then start your graphical environment from it. Most of the environment is persisitent so that it will appear in X terminals (which only launch interactive non-login shells). However, if you launch an interactive shell, the following is lost: * PS1, PS2 * all aliases * /etc/bash_completion So, I have to set up the bashrc of every user to restore PS1, PS2, my custom aliases and bash_completion. Is there a solution to this is in something like a "system-wide bashrc"? The current way is really inconvenient.

Please someone change the http://www.archlinux.org/developers/ list into two parts: devs and TUs. Right it states "Core developers" and that's not true. -Andy

Since udev breaks with pretty much everything below 2.6.24, I don't think it's useful to patch packages to support anything below 2.6.24.

Though tmpfs is a dynamic filesystem that only uses memory that is in use on tmpfs, I don't think it makes sense to allow more than 10MB here. Other distributions limit the size of tmpfs also. This release adds an upstream patch to add signalfd support for older kernels. This makes udev 145 work with 2.6.24 kernels. Please signoff for both architectures.

I just released initscripts with all current changes from git, especially because of http://projects.archlinux.org/?p=initscripts.git;a=commitdiff;h=634397e1c7f… I didn't add Dan's install.sh->Makefile patch for now, as I want to change a few things first: 1) Move minilogd to its own git repository, tarball and package. 2) Make initscripts a -any package. Any objections here?

Please signoff for both architectures. e2fsprogs: Build without libuuid, libblkid, fsck and uuidd, depend on util-linux-ng util-linux-ng: Include libuuid, libblkid, fsck and uuidd, don't depend on e2fsprogs These updates include the new libblkid library, which makes libvolume_id which is included in udev obsolete.
