Yes, this is a known problem with some versions of dhcp. Easiest is to simply use dhclient instead of dhcpd.

Ok, thanks for the info. To avoid risking to lose access to the machine when trying possible future versions of dhcpcd, I am using a systemd-networkd approach now, which is working fine. I have a fully static use-case here.
