[aur-general] Removal request
Hi! I was the owner of gguitar PKGBUILD, but since the project was renamed to wxguitar, i decided to create another PKGBUILD. Could someone with sufficient rights could delete gguitar from AUR? Thanks! -- Dany Martineau Enseignant en mathématiques En congé parental jusqu'au 25 août 2009 http://arctangente.blogspot.com CSSMI

Hi, I noticed that this package requires wxgtk to be compiled with --enable-mediactrl. I also know of an app I'd like to put on AUR which suffers from the same problem. Do you think we should request that wxgtk gets compiled with --enable-mediactrl by default? The problem with this is that it adds a dependency on gstreamer. Philipp

This was requested and basically rejected because of the gnome dependency that gstreamer would bring: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/11756 Feel free to re-open it though. Specify what packages in repos or AUR need that feature. If it's used by a lot of apps and users want this, I could reconsider.
It could be an idea to create a wxgtk-media PKGBUILD in AUR while waiting for wxgtk compiled with --enable-mediactrl by default. I could be responsible of the PKGBUILD since it doesn't seem to hard to create...

Yes, do so. Users will be able to vote for it so it'll be a good way to see how popular it is. See the bug report. The additionnal depends are listed there.

Done. wxgtk-media PKGBUILD exists in AUR, so other maintainers of apps that requires --enable-mediactrl can now modify their scripts. Thanks for quick response Eric. I decided to subscribe to this mailing list, as i maintain a couple of pkgbuilds since few months and wants to help if i could. -- Dany Martineau Enseignant en mathématiques En congé parental jusqu'au 25 août 2009 http://arctangente.blogspot.com CSSMI

I don't like gnome dependencies either. As far as I've seen in the tracker and in my previous build gconf would be that dependency. For the sake of this experiment I tried to compile it without gconf installed and it worked but mediactrl wasn't compiled then. I don't see gstreamer bringing in any gnome dependency by itself. gconf isn't the worst gnome dependency there is but oh well. The specific app I planned to package doesn't compile through with mediactrl enabled either which I reported two versions ago, so I stopped caring. I won't open that bug again now. Serious audio apps use something else anyway. Sorry for the trouble. Philipp
