Looks like we need some debug work on the date stuff in pacman: $ pacQi xtrans Name : xtrans ... Build Date : Wed Dec 31 17:59:59 1969 Install Date : Wed Dec 31 17:59:59 1969 ... Clearly I didn't install this package way back then. :) I actually see how to fix this right now, but it is nice to give a heads up. -Dan

However, it missed a few things: * If we weren't in the C/POSIX/en_US locale, the date parsing would fail as it tried to use the abbreviations of the locale being used. Fix this by switching the LC_TIME value before we parse a date. * We used ctime to print the date value, which is always the C locale string. Instead, use strftime to print a localized date string. I have created a repo for those you who may want to help test the xdelta code in pacman 3.1. There is just one package in the repo: deltatest. I will try to update the package at least once a day. Steps for delta goodness: 1. Install pacman from git 2. Install xdelta: pacman -S xdelta 3. Add UseDelta to your pacman.conf 4. Add the deltatest server to pacman.conf: [deltatest] Server = http://home.insightbb.com/~nathanj/dt 5. Install the package: pacman -Sy deltatest 6. Update the package whenever you want 7. Report many, many bugs

One suggestion for an additional package in your test repo: deltatest-libs-1.0.1-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz That extra hyphen in the package name can cause some grief for the delta naming code. Not saying that it will with your code, mind you, just that it did with mine ;-) Regards Dale
