| seems ok on x86_64 on my thinkpad x61t - just rebooted, everything

just realised something: the new .8 kernel ... i have the impression
that it uses memory more conservative... or it is more efficient in
cleaning up memory after using it. nothing positive, nothing
negative, just a remark.
