Basically, everything should be done in UTF8 nowadays. However, it also 
has to be ensured that you have UTF8 enabled when reading the commit 
message and that whatever sends the mails specifies UTF8 as charset in 
the header. BTW, I'd like to have the ä in my last name in my passwd 
entry please :)
