[arch-dev-public] file-5.12 pulled from [testing]

Hi all,

This seems to have come up a few times on IRC and on the bug tracker, so
I may as well mention it here. file-5.12 lived a very short life in
testing (only a few hours) before it was pulled due to a fairly nasty
bug, but it seems that a good number of people still managed to install
it. The bug manifests itself as the mkinitcpio error "invalid kernel
specified" due to kernel images being misidentified by file as x86 boot
sectors, instead of a legit kernel images.

If you still have file-5.12 installed, please start paying attention to
the pacman warnings about your version of file being newer than what's
in core, and revert to version 5.11:

I fully intend to push a version of mkinitcpio soon™ which no longer
depends on file and does identification of kernel images[1] and compression
methods[2] (for lsinitcpio) without the aid of file so that we don't run
into this again.

We should have posted about this at the time testing/file was pulled
from the repo, but it seems that didn't happen.

Cheers,
Dave
