[arch-general] experience with gprs/umts cards & linux?

Hi,
Unfortunatly i need to travel a lot recently.  
For windows you can use those pcmia cards that act as a modem for umts/gprs 
connections.  
If anyone tried something like that on linux, please share your experience.
Maybe i could use a mobile with bluetooth as well.
