I'm not the maintainer of hplip, anyway I read from ./configure:

  --enable-qt4    (DO NOT USE) enable qt4 (default=no)
  --enable-qt3    enable qt3 (default=yes)

Seem to me that hplip's dev advise to not use hplip with qt4 or I'm wrong?
