So, if I'm updating from a system that hasn't been rebooted for half a
year or so, I won't even get a chance to do so:

pacman -S glibc, wait a few minutes for the update, and then everything
says:
"FATAL: Kernel too old".

Don't do it, this will break lots of systems.
