I had a simila(?) problem: suddenly special keys (page up etc.) stopped to 
work, in KDE. Solved selecting "Evdev managed keyboard" (or what's the 
translation in English) in the control panel -> System settings -> Locals (?) 
-> keyboard mapping.

Hope this helps, though not sure!
