the library encoder decoder theora version 1.1 was rewritten.  It is 
"largely an improvement to the Theora encoder

this library is old in the repository arch

also, ffmpeg2theora, "A simple converter to create Ogg Theora files", is 
a binary that (I know slightly) depends to the library is old in the 
repository arch.  ffmpeg2theora-0.25 'use new libtheora 1.1'

I am inexperienced with package management, for example the maintainers 
may know a conflicts or insecurity that is the reason to serve the old.

However, this news is relevant.  I will continue to act as a reporter to
