One small problem with mkinitcpio: the -z flag doesn't do anything.
I had COMPRESSION="xz" in the config and tried -z lzop - compressed with 
xz. I had COMPRESSION="lzop" in the config and tried -z lzma - 
compressed with lzop. (Verified with lsinitcpio.)
