Thanks, as my hardware seems to be problematic anyway (Sony Vaio
VPCS12C5E), so I wasn't entirely sure whether its the driver itself or
my (broken) hardware.

Yeah, that's probably the only right thing to do, when we can be sure
that it is the driver itself that doesn't work as it is supposed to.
