If it's related to applications, you could test replacements. I anyway
would replace xfce4-terminal by roxterm.

I dropped Xfce4 a long time ago and switched to openbox, but still
follow the mailing list. Consider to follow the xfce mailing list too,
since there seemingly was and perhaps still is a serious Thunar issue,
that is related to a copy option and could cause loss of files.
