i should have thought it before, it was a missing kernel driver...
thanks for the tip for 3 net devices, i always had only 2!
the missing kernel module was:
/usr/lib/modules/*/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/intel/e1000/e1000.ko.gz
i thought i tried without my "minifications" already, dammit.
