Hi,
Both are initramfs generators. mkinitcpio is the official Arch Linux initramfs generator, while dracut
is the one used by Fedora, Red Hat, etc.
They can both be used right now and I expect mkinitcpio to continue to be updated. We are simply giving
the user a choice for now. I'm not sure we will replace mkinitcpio with dracut, if ever. This might change
though.
If you don't feel confident choosing, I'd advise you to stay using mkinitcpio.
