[arch-general] do i need to configure mkinitcpio.conf for my md array ?

you need the "mdadm" hook in HOOKS in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf, and
rebuild the initramfs.

the hook would auto-detect the raid setup, but it will also include
/etc/mdadm.conf if it exists.
