This is totally nitpicking, but we have this order by default in /etc/profile:
PATH="/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin"

Shouldn't we try to be consistent? Or at least figure out what normal is?

Of course, from a CentOS box...
$ echo $PATH
/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/home/dan/bin
