besides, why are we discussing new cpu's only?
I'm using a 5 year old amd athlon pc and i like it just fine.
I'm pretty sure there are more people who are happy with their old
systems.

32bit is definitely not gone yet. not in a long shot.  see how many
people started complaining in april last year ;)
