*Sigh* Let me rewrite this with my reading glasses :-):

I'd rather ask the other maintainer to rename his package. Renaming
yours in that incredibly cryptic and convoluted way is a disservice to
your present and potential users. The other maintainer may feel he is
entitled to have it his/her way because he/she arriived first, but
when you publish a public work as a service to others, your first duty
is to your users.
