Request #10297 has been rejected by Eschwartz [1]:

That's not how merges work, git packages are for development code and
non git packages are for stable releases.

And that "new home" is just as four-years-dead. But at least you can
update this package to download a stable commit from the mirror. While
you are at it, ask upstream to add a git tag to the old release.
