Request #31686 has been Accepted by alerque [1]:

-latest style packages for things in official repositories are against
the AUR rules. Flag the main package and ask on the lists if there is
an unreasonable hold up. There is also a VCS package available, and
for your own use feel free to adapt that to checkout and build from
tag instead of HEAD.
