Sure, that's possible, but then we're breaking some abstraction.
Basically right now, it's just a libdownload call to "get from this
uri" and pacman could care less where it's from.  It's a tad messy to
break that abstraction, but it could be done.

What about not displaying a progress bar at all for file:// based repos?
