[pacman-dev] pacman confused by provides, conflicts and depends

Hi,

I just found out something strange. The package php-suhosin (providing php) 
should be replaced by php. So I added "conflicts/replaces=php-suhosin" to 
php. When I try to upgrade I got the following error:

Strange, wether php-suhosin nor php-suhosin-extension depend on each other. 
The extension just needs php (which was provided by php-suhosin).

So I just wonder why this upgrade fails.
