It looks like it will match opt/bin, but not opt/kde4/bin, for
instance. Is this what you originally meant by "never working"? You
shouldn't make such blanket statements though.
find {,usr/{,local/},opt/*/}{bin,lib,sbin} -type f
Will this work? (note '*/' addition)
