[arch-general] debian conversion tool?
install-dosemu-master.zip can be built with debian. When it is, those using dosemu2.deb can install many snearly standard dos utilities that work inside of dosemu2. Unfortunately the source code inside that package is debian only and I will be copying installed dosemu utilities from my debian disk onto my archlinux system. Lots of entries for debian in archlinux repositories and I'm curious if anything can port debian source code to something archlinux can build. Maybe Chris Severance doesn't know about this extra file for dosemu2 or maybe this kind of conversion is too much trouble.
Try this: https://github.com/jordansissel/fpm I don't know if it'll work, just that it's a thing that exists. /Emil On 2021-04-27 18:22, Jude DaShiell via arch-general wrote:

If fpm doesn't convert to archlinux yet, maybe that can happen in a little while given the popularity of archlinux. I can find out and offer encouragement. Thanks for the suggestion. On Tue, 27 Apr 2021, Emil Lundberg via arch-general wrote:

I'm pretty sure that's not the case; source code is rarely specific to one distribution.
and I will be copying installed dosemu utilities from my debian disk onto my archlinux system.
Why? dosemu is in the repos [1]. This all sounds like an XY Problem [2]. [1] https://archlinux.org/packages/community/x86_64/dosemu/ [2] http://mywiki.wooledge.org/XyProblem

Oh, also, dosemu2-git is in the AUR (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/dosemu2-git)
True, but install-freedos is not. If you install dosemu or dosemu2.git it installs standard or nearly standard tools you'd expect to find on a dos box. This is a separate package for now. On Mon, 3 May 2021, Jonathon Fernyhough via arch-general wrote:
