1. They are not the same, one pulls from a branch, the other pulls from trunk. 2. When pulling from trunk, -svn is the correct name. 3. You are using a very old PKGBUILD template. Please see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/VCS_PKGBUILD_Guidelines
