Removal of farseerfc as Package Maintainer due to inactivity
Hi all, I'd like to start a ["Special Removal of an Inactive Package Maintainer"][0] for farseerfc based on prolonged inactivity. farseerfc has not executed any of the expected packaging or AUR maintenance duties for more than a year now. When I recently contacted all people who were inactive for a longer period of time I heard back from him saying that [he wanted to get back to things][1] and but would need a few weeks. This conversation has now happened 5 months ago and nothing has changed since. - I couldn't find any packaging activity for him in the state repo since Apr 29 08:01:12 2023 - He did not do any AUR Moderation since 2022 Given these circumstances I'm requesting Jiachen to be removed as a Package Maintainer. If at some later point he has the time / resources to help out again he is of course welcome to join the project again! The discussion period for this proposal will last for three days, after which there will be a voting period of five days as outlined in the bylaws. Cheers, gromit [0]: https://package-maintainer-bylaws.aur.archlinux.org/#_special_removal_of_an_... [1]: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/ttf-opensans/-/iss...
Hi all, This is farseerfc (Jiachen YANG). Seeing that gromit has initiated a removal discussion, I feel I should formally express my willingness to resign from the Package Maintainer role. I apologize for not addressing this sooner. First, I’d like to thank gromit giving me a reminder, and all staffs of the Arch Linux. It has been a pleasure working with you and contributing to the broader Arch Linux community. My resignation stems from being unable to dedicate sufficient time to these responsibilities. I became a TU in 2015 while working as an assistant professor at a university. Much has changed since then, I now have a daughter, and I’ve changed my job as an IT engineer at a media company in Tokyo. In recent years, I’ve found it increasingly difficult to balance my daytime job and family commitments, leaving my duty as a TU/PM unattended. I initially hoped that as my daughter grew older or as I adjusted to my job, I would regain time for packaging and AUR tasks. Unfortunately, this has proven more challenging than anticipated. I deeply value Arch Linux, and I enjoyed contributing to the community. The community deserves better, and I hope to be able to contribute again when my circumstances allow for meaningful involvement. Thank you all for your understanding. Thanks for your contributions to the community over all these years when you were active! 🤗 Knowing the background for the change in activity makes it definitely understandable as this involves a lot of things to balance.. Also congratulations to starting a family!
I deeply value Arch Linux, and I enjoyed contributing to the community. The community deserves better, and I hope to be able to contribute again when my circumstances allow for meaningful involvement.
If at some point you'll have enough free time again to do so you're more than welcome to contribute again 😃
Thank you all for your understanding.
