[PRQ#50993] Deletion Request for libsidplay
MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for libsidplay [2]: Discontinued since 2004, fails to build. Not useful to keep. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/MarsSeed/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/libsidplay/
Hello, Marcell. You have asked for deletion of mp3blaster and libsidplay I don't know about mp3blaster. It's sobsolate, and I don't use it personally. But about libsidplay -- Are there other libs to play SID files? And it is depndency of audacious2-plugins<https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/audacious2-plugins>[1] [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/audacious2-plugins I'd say leave alone libsidplay. And this aur package is building. Why did you say it's not building? If it fails to build -- I can try fixing it. It builds on my machine. On 13.11.23 13:08, notify@aur.archlinux.org wrote:

Not beneficial to keep this package. It's upstream is not maintained since 2017, and its dependency libsidplay from 2004 fails to build.
There are other console-based audio players that users can choose.

I cannot help in that regard. I don't have the expertise, but frankly, lack inclination as well. Neither Debian nor Gentoo maintain this anymore, they have switched to libsidplay2 and libsidplayfp (latter is in Arch repo as well). I have explained it all in detailed comments on the AUR page, but did not get as much as an acknowledgement of understanding of these points. If Bohdan wants to fix this code from 2004, he's welcome, but otherwise I don't see a point in keeping this on AUR.

It may be useful to explain the maintainer what's broken in the package as he refers the package builds fine on his machine. -- Fabio Castelli aka Muflone
