The problem appears to be that the PKGBUILD requires both the python- and python2-versions of dependencies, but both of the splits then define their own depends. Pikaur then installs only the depends for the version that I specify (I tried python 3 first) and ignores the python 2 versions. Then when "makepkg -s" is called, it complains that the python2 versions of the AUR packages cannot be found. (repo packages are fine, of course) I don't know if this is a bug, but you can probably work around this by moving all those dependencies to the makedepends if you need them during the build or remove them altogether otherwise. For me, the latter option works. Best, Bert.

Also, devil2 isn't available from the AUR - probably there's a typo in the dependency, as a package "community/devil 1.8.0-5" exists? However, I could manage to start the build (because of confusion about the -S option I had set the directory path incorrectly; fixed now), but after compilation the Ninja build system generator does not find the build directory: pkgdir = ~/.cache/pikaur/build/cctag/pkg/cctag ninja: Entering directory `build' ninja: fatal: chdir to 'build' - No such file or directory The first line is created by an echo instruction added as the first line of the "package()" function - this looks quite weird, what would be the correct path? Correction, it was the ncurses-5-compat package with the missing gpg key not ncurses-6. I found that out by ignoring all gpg checks and the other thing with pikaur is it didn't keep the gpg key that was unknown on the screen long enough for me to check with gpg2 and possibly import it. --

Currently AUR web interface is able to resolve the dependencies in case if the dependendent package is provided by another package (see python2-catkin-pkg in the dependencies list): https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/ros-indigo-catkin/ However AUR RPC is not allowing querying by Provides field but only by `name`, `name-desc` and `maintainer` fields: https://aur.archlinux.org/rpc.php The discussion about that problem (https://github.com/ actionless/pikaur/issues/53) resulted in at least 3 possible ways to resolve that issue: - adding name-desc-provides filter - adding provides filter - when searching by name match not only Name field but also Provides field Please let me know if you're OK with one of the following approaches or propose another one. I'm pretty new to this mailing list. But I'm been thinking the same thing. Talked about it in a previous mail. https://lists.archlinux.org/pipermail/aur-general/2018-March/034001.html I think it's a great idea. When searching by name, i think the rpc should at least also search by the "replaces" attribute too. Provides would be a separate query but it could also be the same. And it is not like anyone was assuming only one result would be returned... this was never an exact name search to begin with. P.S.
