MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for katecpp-helper-plugin [2]: Hey @arcanis and AUR TU's, I suggest this discontinued and now broken helper plugin can be deleted. It cannot be built because it's missing a KDE SDK for Kate editor which no longer exists. Latest tagged release was in 2014, last development commit was in 2017. It only supported up to C++ 14 source code syntax. It's not needed anymore. Since 1 Jan 2020 Kate has an integrated LSP (Language Server Protocol) client plugin, via which the editor can access helper modules for a large list of programming/markup languages. [PRQ#49836] Deletion Request for lib32-gd

MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for lib32-gd [2]: lib32-gd is absolutely unnecessary for lib32-libgphoto2. The latter could only use gd for on-the-fly image conversion two specific digital "picture frame" hardware, for which libgphoto2 introduced support in 2015, well within the 64-bit era. Also that library is utilized for Docupen scanner pen support, starting from 2020. There is no other part of the libgphoto2 code that links to gd. Therefore I cannot conceive any application that is bin32 only and needs this specialized functionality of libgphoto2 for those 2015 and 2020 released, 64-bit compatible niche hardware devices. I've notified the maintainer of lib32-libgphoto2 about this in July 2023. Deleting this unneeded library would in turn allow other lib32 packages to be dropped. [aur-requests] [PRQ#31694] Deletion Request for wine-qqintl

MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for wine-qqintl [2]: Package name is wrong. It does not package WINE, only repackages a third-party .DEB repackage of (supposedly) QQ Messenger for Windows. It's unclear how the package depends on WINE, and on which one (no depends= declared). The package is 6 years old. The maintainer did not respond to a request for update since 5 years ago. The linked website, www.imqq.com server is offline. The source, which is a SourceForge repo with .DEB files has not been updated for the last 6 years. I think it's safe to delete this package. Nothing else depend on it and I don't think anyone would need this now. Anyways people surely could download and run Windows current software in WINE in Deepin as well. An Instant Messenger application is also very likely to need up-to- date clients. So this package is most probably useless now. [PRQ#52678] Deletion Request for xfce4-appfinder-gtk2

MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for xfce4-appfinder-gtk2 [2]: Obsolete package from 2019. Gtk2-based Xfce4 is EOL. Most such applications had their last releases even earlier, in 2017, and fail to build on current Arch Linux. Several of those have already been accepted for deletion from AUR, and others are pending deletion. Safe to delete this, as Arch extra repo carries the current, working versions of Gtk3 based Xfce4 applications and libraries. There is also a community-maintained, GitHub CI-tested patched Gtk3 fork 'gtk3-classic-xfce', available on AUR, which restores traditional desktop experience elements (no-CSD, normal menu bar, and many more) to Gtk3 that have been removed by the upstream GNOME/Gtk3 project. So there is absolutely no usefulness in keeping dead/EOL/deprecated old variants of Xfce4 packages on AUR, when a user can easily acquire working Xfce4 packages from repo and fine-tune their experience, if desired, with the above-mentioned Gtk3 fork from AUR. I have all the depends build with devtools recently, I'll check if need to send a patch for something. The program still run.

MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for perl-coro+any_perl_version [2]: Please delete. I've created this temp package to fix AUR/perl-coro until its maintainer can fix that. Package name has '+' sign, which is completely legal when it comes to Arch package naming, according to man and wiki documentation. makepkg can make it, pacman can install it. Yet, my AUR helpers, yay and paru cannot find this name on AUR. (There definitely is a bug somewhere, but I do not have time or willingness to track it down because '+' is vitually nonexistent when it comes to package names, so I don't really want to be the only person who uses that character in that context.) TLDR: Safe to delete as soon as you can. :) Unneeded and cannot be found on AUR by yay and paru. xiota [1] filed a deletion request for upg [2]: Maintainer is upstream dev. Program looks like a personal system maintenance script that is dangerous for other users to run. Does not belong on AUR. Maintainer was notified of issues on GitHub last week. I also commented on AUR, intent to open deletion request. Maintainer has not responded. Review of package and script found the following: * PKGBUILD does not use checksums or signature, allowing retag to arbitrary commit. * Script options are hard coded with no way for user adjust without editing the script. This indicates script is suitable only for personal use by the author. * Script deletes pacman lockfile - could cause significant damage to system. * Script modifies grub and initramfs - could make system unbootable with no benefit because package managers typically already perform these tasks as needed. * Script runs tasks that users may not want: clears cache, empties trash * Script makes runtime assumptions that don't necessarily hold (eg, certain variables are not empty), potentially unintentionally altering system files.
