I only said that we CAN merge the branch later, I didn't say we will.
The whole reason I didn't apply the patch to the master branch is that
we have not yet decided what to do with it, and I myself am not sure
yet. A branch can be easily deleted or ignored for eternity.

That said, the only ones that have seriously been working on initscripts
are tpowa and me, with an occasional patch from Roman and Dan. So,
despite the fact that I am willing to listen to the concerns of others,
the final decision lies with me and tpowa.
