Fluxbb isn't maintained anymore it seems and we want to avoid security issues.
We have done a lot of research and discourse is the *least* worse option.

SSO is intended for everything at some point, but this will take a long time to
happen (hopefully not *that* long) and will happen incrementally. There's a lot
of discussion still happening on that front and not is 100% defined yet.
