I have it solved (sort of). I'm running parcellite in fluxbox (guest) and 
klipper in kde3 (host). I can copy if I explicitly tell either to 'copy' the 
selection and then 'paste', but the select/middle-mouse-click isn't working.

I'll keep playing with it.
