Arch Linux Security Advisory ASA-202006-9
=========================================

Severity: Low
Date    : 2020-06-13
CVE-ID  : CVE-2020-12049
Package : dbus
Type    : denial of service
Remote  : No
Link    : https://security.archlinux.org/AVG-1183

Summary
=======

The package dbus before version 1.12.18-1 is vulnerable to denial of
service.

Resolution
==========

Upgrade to 1.12.18-1.

# pacman -Syu "dbus>=1.12.18-1"

The problem has been fixed upstream in version 1.12.18.

Workaround
==========

None.

Description
===========

An issue was discovered in dbus >= 1.3.0 before 1.12.18. The DBusServer
in libdbus, as used in dbus-daemon, leaks file descriptors when a
message exceeds the per-message file descriptor limit. A local attacker
with access to the D-Bus system bus or another system service's private
AF_UNIX socket could use this to make the system service reach its file
descriptor limit, denying service to subsequent D-Bus clients.

Impact
======

A local attacker might be able to cause a denial of service via crafted
DBUS messages.
