Request #11703 has been rejected by Eschwartz [1]:

That's not a reason to delete working software that works. It's the
only version of kobo-desktop that was released natively for Linux...

It's proprietary software running on your computer, interoperating
with proprietary software running on an embedded device... of course
it isn't building from source...
