[arch-releng] website improvements
Hi all, some releng-related ideas for improvements of the website, loosely based on the suggestions from someone on the forums ( http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=497610#p497610 ) @ http://www.archlinux.org/download/ I would create a new section above "Buy a CD" called "Latest release" or something. This section would contain: * the last release version + date of release. * release notes of that specific release. * a tiny note that you don't need to reinstall if you want to upgrade your system. * links to the bugtracker, mailinglist your thoughts?

Thats qute. 2 things 1) what does 'release notes' mean? A ChangeLog? Sure, feel free to write one as you make the archiso -> aif transition. You dont have to ask users, just do it. 2) Make a feature request on the bug tracker. The last * could be useful only if there were a seperate releng page. But there isnt. Having them on the download page is pointless. -- Greg what to do and what not to do in public :o) http://linux.sgms-centre.com/misc/netiquette.php

Doing these changes now. I want to include the instructions somehow on this page. Perhaps the initial top section could contain the instructions and cover all you suggested here?

Arr I hate to feel like Mr. Nitpicky Stickler but the mailing list descriptions [1] should probably corrected to read 'Arch Linux' rather than 'ArchLinux' for maximum consistency. Sorry that this isn't really a releng issue, it would be a website improvment though! [1] http://www.archlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/

Also on newsletter, the last entry should be February 2009, not 2008. Sorry for being nitpicky.

I don't think Eduardo and company read this list - might want to email them directly
Alright, will do.
