[aur-general] drpython PKGBUILD update
Hi, I have created a new PKGBUILD for drpython. Currently drpython is assigned to devel category. Should I modify this one and upload it to editors? Regards, jcerdan

Hi,
I have created a new PKGBUILD for drpython. Currently drpython is assigned to devel category. Should I modify this one and upload it to editors? Yes, you can do it. When you send the new tarball you can select a category (also different of the old package) otherwise you can use the link http://aur.archlinux.org/pkgedit.php?change_Category=1&ID=6419 (this link appear when you click the category of the package)

Hi, Yes, right, but I didn't explained me well. I was wondering if drpython package should go to editors category instead of devel category, is there a rule to decide in which category a package must go? Regards, jcerdan

Ok, I think, simply, good sense. drpython is a IDE; I think it should be in the devel category. Regards -- Andrea `BaSh` Scarpino Arch Linux Trusted User Linux User: #430842

on a sidenote, I really don't see any point in having these categories. The categories are really not intuitive and don't help searching for a kind of package any easier. Well, it may be just me of course :p
I agree with you. On Thu, Jun 5, 2008 at 3:20 PM, Ronald van Haren <pressh@gmail.com> wrote:

I don't think they are extremely useful, but they don't hurt neither. Someone may think: "Let's see what cool game it's on the AUR" and then look at the "games" category. Every distro has packages in categories, and I think it does make sense. P.s. The first time I read your mail I thought you were proposing to drop categories, but probably you were not. -- Alessio (molok) Bolognino Please send personal email to themolok@gmail.com Public Key http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=get&search=0xFE0270FB GPG Key ID = 1024D / FE0270FB 2007-04-11 Key Fingerprint = 9AF8 9011 F271 450D 59CF 2D7D 96C9 8F2A FE02 70FB
