[arch-general] How to connect to iOS DCIM/APPLE* folders for copying items to the Linux PC

Hi,

is there a way to get access to the DCIM/APPLE* folders on an iOS
device, without the need to install GVFS? Would it be possible with an
app that depends on GVFS?

If I follow https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/IOS#Manual_mounting it
works for user apps [1], but it fails for system apps [2]. Without
rebooting the device, it still works for user apps, after it failed for
system apps [3]. I'm even not sure if any listed system app has got
anything to do with the DCIM/APPLE* folders.

Until today I used Windows 7 running as a VirtualBox guest, to get
access to those folders. iTunes file sharing still works, but access to
DCIM/APPLE* folders doesn't allow to copy all items anymore. I likely
could workaround this issue by moving photos and videos to another user
app, such as Audio Share and then use iTunes file sharing, but doing so
would be a PITA.

Fortunately there's something good with running into this issue. Until
now I launched Virtualbox to share files between my Linux DAW and iOS
DAWs, but seemingly I can access the iOS DAWs by command line, no need
to run Windows in a VM. I wasn't aware of this before.
