It's purely an extension. Right off their website:
Enigmail is a security extension to Mozilla Thunderbird and
Seamonkey. It enables you to write and receive email messages signed
and/or encrypted with the OpenPGP standard.
There's also a -bin package that follows the same naming pattern I
believe. Maybe rename both?
