[arch-announce] klibc upgrade requires user intervention

Due to a limitation in pacman's conflict checking and symbolic link resolution, the upgrade to klibc-1.5.14-1 requires manual removal of a symbolic link befole updating. Please run the command "rm /usr/lib/klibc/include/asm" as root to remove the symbolic link that will otherwise cause a few hundred false file conflicts. URL: http://archlinux.org/news/411/

netcfg v2.1 is mostly a bug fix release, however there are some important changes and new features. - Remove driver specific hacks/quirks. [arch-announce] TeXLive now in extra

Based on the official release last week of [TeXLive 2008][1], a collection of texlive packages is now available in extra and replaces the obsolete tetex. Some important points to note: * PLEASE READ THIS: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/TeXLive * The installation now goes to /usr instead of /opt/texlive. Upon upgrading from the 2007 packages, you might encounter some error messages about binaries not found under /opt/texlive/bin: you can safely ignore them. * Instead of upgrading, I suggest you simply remove all your old texlive packages first, and then do a clean install under /usr. * For reasons of space and because life is too short, I decided not to provide the documentation. You can consult it online at http://tug.org/texlive/Contents/live/doc.html or on CTAN. Documentation packages might soon be made available on [community] though. [arch-announce] xorg-server 1.5RC6 enters testing

Xorg-server 1.5RC6 (1.4.99.906) enters tesing. This version of xorg-server includes input hotplugging using hal, better EXA support and less memory usage. Note that this version requires an upgrade of all videodrivers. All videodrivers shipped with X.Org have been rebuilt to reflect this change. Nvidia drivers don't seem to need a rebuild, while AMD's catalyst drivers don't support the new X.Org version. Fglrx users should not upgrade to this version. [arch-announce] Pacman 3.2.0 release

Pacman 3.2.0 has been released to [core]. As usual, please report any issues or regressions to the bug tracker located at [http://bugs.archlinux.org/][1] after searching to see if your bug already exists. The changes in this release are detailed in the NEWS file located in GIT, which can be accessed [here][2]. Noticeable changes in this release include much-reduced memory usage and the dropping of pacman.static. The following issues are known and will be fixed in the next maintenance release: 1. Makepkg fails to download source URLs containing the '?' character. Fixed with [this commit][3]. 2. Local mirror displays no progress bar or indications. Fixed with [this commit][4]. 3. libdownload can fail when given an extra trailing slash. Fixed with [this commit][5]. [arch-announce] Eclipse 3.4

Packages for eclipse 3.4-3 and eclipse-cdt 5.0.0-2 will appear shortly in extra. We've switched to using the eclipse.org binary distributions for optimal stability and compatibility. It appeared that installing the binary distributions in /opt/eclipse was required; however, we have since determined that everything works fine with eclipse in /usr/share.
