By looking at the device symlinks from the holders/ attributes of a block device, we can walk down each device chain until we reach the most descendant device. For each of these devices at the end of a chain, detect its type and perform the appropriate action to disassemble it. Then, walk back up the device chain, disassembling each parent device. To save ourselves some pain and make sure we're fairly accurate, lsblk is brought in for detection of device types. hi, i noticed a minor inconsistency between the two daemons. net-auto-wireless can read WIRELESS_INTERFACE from /etc/conf.d/netcfg, while net-auto-wired only recognize WIRED_INTERFACE from /etc/rc.conf. wifi-select also insists that WIRELESS_INTERFACE be set in /etc/rc.conf. the wiki page of netcfg "correctly" instructs users to set WIRELESS_INTERFACE in /etc/conf.d/netcfg, and WIRED_INTERFACE in /etc/rc.conf, but the fact that such two similar named and seemingly similar usage daemons from same project use different configuration files itself is somewhat wired and un-intuitive. would it be better to unify the configuration file among netcfg related utilities and daemons? thank you for your kind attention. best regards,

Jouke Witteveen has been working on netcfg recently and we finally had a new release. I would like to give him git-shell access so he can push to the netcfg repository directly. This would make him the new netcfg maintainer. I will still handle releases for now as soon as he pushes an annotated tag, and there is no reason to give him more access right now. Objections?

wpa_actiond watches the wireless link and kills dhcpcd when appropriate. When the network goes down shortly (less than 30 seconds), then dhcpcd still removes the IP and re-acquires the lease. The proper fix is to get rid of the mdadm hook and to always use mdadm_udev (which should be merged into mdadm), but this might come back and bite us again. The new solution doesn't assume that udev rules exist and tries blkid first. If the device doesn't (yet) exist fall back on a udev symlink if udevd is running.
