[arch-projects] [devtools] Question about installing runtime dependencies at build time

Hello Arch developers, After an upstream issue reported by Laurent Carlier (aka lordheavy) Istarted wondering why builds fail on his end and not my (Arch) machine. The key difference seems to be that he's using devtools, whereas I do not. After a further chat, I got the impression that devtools installs runtime dependencies before/alongside(?) as the PKGBUILD build/install target is issued. This doesn't sound quite right to me. Shouldn't it be done, only on runtime scenarios - say the check target? Of course, I could be missing something so if anyone has some pointers that will be appreciated. Thanks Emil

From: Christian Hesse <mail(a)eworm.de> My system has a mirror configuration where only the host can access a special url from pacman.conf but chroots and containers fail. Instead of host's pacman.conf use $pac_conf or pacman.conf from chroot. This still uses host's /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist and should achieve the expected results. Where this becomes tricky is check to decide if we are going to use btrfs subvolumes or not. We don't care if "$source/.." is on btrfs; the root could be a directly-mounted subvolume, but and the destination could be another subvolume of the same btrfs mounted somewhere else. The things we do care about are: - The source is a btrfs subvolume (so that we can snapshot it) - The source is on the same filesystem as the directory that the copy will be created in. - If the destination exists: * that it is not a mountpoint (so that we can delete and recreate it) * that it is a btrfs subvolume (so that we can quickly delete it) On the last point, it isn't necessary for creating the new snapshot, just for quick deletion. I can just make it optional but after November we wont even have packages on our mirrors for testing it. Let me know what sounds better.
