I was thinking of how we currently check package validity and had planned to do something like: 1) signature check 2) md5sum check _only_ if no signature to check with the intention of adding an sha256sum check in the middle in the future (perhaps only if pacman is built using openssl to save us having to provide the routines...). But as far as I can tell, _alpm_check_pgp_helper does not allow you to distinguish between a successful signature check and the case where no signature is available and signature checking is not required. Is that correct or am I missing something? Allan

If someone did a 'touch bogusrepo.db', we had the potential to throw a SIGFPE or divide by zero, given that the total file size was 0 and getting passed up to the pacman callback. We did a good job checking this in add.c, but not necessarily anywhere else. Fix this up by adding checks into dload.c, remove.c, and conf.c in the frontend. Also add loggers where appropriate and make the message syntax more consistent. pacsort is a command line sorting utility that implements libalpm's alpm_pkg_vercmp algorithm. Signed-off-by: Dave Reisner <dreisner(a)archlinux.org> --- On Dan's prodding and enthusiasm, I cleaned this up into a real thing: * no hard coded buffer sizes. Everything grows on demand. My initial values and growth may be a little off, but they seemed reasonable for my use cases. * support for null delimited data. Was easy enough, so why not. * support for sorting on specific column. As a necessary evil with it, support for changing the field delimiter. The default is a single space, as that's what pacman -Q uses. So it occurs to me that while it's all well and good to have a portable package cache cleaner, it's no good at all if it all hinges on a GNU sort flag (-V) which poorly approximates what vercmp does. Would we have room for sort tool that implements alpm_pkg_vercmp? A simple implementation could be as easy as the below...
