Hi, in lib/libalpm/alpm.h, you define PM_LOCK to "/tmp/pacman.lck", but the lock file should depend on config->root, a scenario: I have a chroot at /home/chroot where I ran the following: pacman -Sy -r /home/chroot xorg gnome gnome-extra kde And i want to update and/or install on my real root ( / ), so I run pacman -Syu but pacman will exit since /tmp/pacman.lck exist, this is wrong, "pacman -r /home/chroot" should not lock "pacman -r /" since pacman will not touch /var/lib/pacman... Hi, I have started looking into pacman code. After running configure on freshly downloaded sources, the configure did not fail on missing libtar. Is this behaviour correct? Without libtar build will fail. Perhaps there should be some notification on missing libraries. Maciek

Hi, All! I wrote in the arch mailing list about problem with versioned libs such as openssl and db. When I update such lib I should update all packages that depends on it, but pacman can not give me list of such packages. I see I can write trivial one line script or use gtkpacman or update whole system, but I think it is wrong when "pacman -Sy openssl db" breaks system. What do you think about it? (May be it is feature request...)

[pacman-dev] New development

Ok, I'm going to jump in about here. For those who aren't on the arch-dev list, I am basically going to be MIA for a week or so due to various personal things. When that is over, I'm going to try and pick up development where Aurelian left off, as he seems to be incommunicato. Anyway, I know you frugalware peeps have lots of developments beyond what is in the main pacman3 tree. I'd like to make a run through this and find out what's going on, and where exactly the current development is at, on both sides of the fence. So, if you have any info for me, or anything important for me to go over while I have no computer (I'll probably print the source if it's not too big), let me know. Thanks, phrak
