hi currently if you want to install a pkg from source or from a local package, you have to a pacman -S foo, and then a pacman -R foo. with this patch you can do a pacman -Se foo, which will install only the deps of the given pkg. this option is also usefull, when you want to install the given pkg with different options, for example with -f once this was already implemented (see #3220), but i've got no answers. now i've ported the patch to pacman3: http://frugalware.org/~vmiklos/patches/… [View More]

hello i have been a long time user of arch, it feels like only yesterday i threw away my debian disks. now i have moved to a mac, i dont like darwin ports, i was thinking of working on porting pacman to the mac, i have practically no experience in c, i do know ruby. warren

Hi, For information, I've found and fixed a file descriptor leak in pacman-lib CVS. Here is the patch backported against pacman 2.9.7. I'm not sure of that, but it may be the root cause of the bug #3259 (http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/3259) -- Aurelien
